We had the great pleasure of welcoming the author, Simon Nicholson, to Riverside as part of our Book Week. He came specially from the UK to introduce the year 4-6 students to his new book: Young Houdini: The Magician’s Fire. He read to the children from his book and talked to them about how he became inspired to write these books. The children were very excited to devise their own ‘Houdini traps’ during their workshops. One child in year 6 quoted’ I love your book. I found it very interesting and descriptive’. The children were able to buy their own copies of the book, signed by author himself. It was a very successful visit; enjoyed by all the children.
